1. A Primary Connection
    APC is a resource center for parents, children and school district staff. We offer support in building the vital link between home and school. We have a wide variety of learning game patterns and construction materials for parents to make games to take home and play with their children. Also available is a variety of materials in a lending library for families, including books for children, books for parents, toys, puzzles, games, video and audio cassettes. We also offer ongoing parent classes.

2. Addiction Counseling and Education Services, Inc.
    Provides alcohol and drug education, treatment programs, outpatient care (group and individual), intensive outpatient treatment for adolescents, adults provided by ACES Threshold, referral services, diversion programs and intervention. Individual counseling available. Also has branches in Cottage Grove (767-3057), Springfield (746-4041), and Eugene Downtown (342-6987). Gambling hotline: 800-605-DICE. Women's groups, groups in Spanish, and Dual Diagnosis groups are in Springfield.

3. Addiction Counseling and Education Services, Inc. - Meridian Gambling Treatment
    Provides compulsive gambling education and treatment, support groups, outpatient care (group and individual), referral services, family support and education and intervention. Individual counseling available. Also offers after-care, pre-treatment, relapse prevention and support and substance abuse treatment for those clients who may be co-addicted.

    Provides alcohol and drug education, treatment programs, support groups, outpatient care (group and individual), referral services, diversion programs and intervention. Individual counseling available. Also has branches in Corvallis (758-8022) and Albany (967-6597).

5. Adoptive Families Unlimited
    A group of adoptive families and others touched by or interested in adoption, offering support, education, multicultural activities, networking, friendship and fun to parents and children of adoptive families. $8.50/year for newsletter.

6. Adult Basic and Secondary Education
    Offers a number of adult skill development services: Adult Basic Skills, GED preparation, Adults with Special Needs, Family Literacy, Adult High School, and Alternative Education. Please note that students under the age of 18 must petition for admission and obtain a release/referral form from their local high school.

7. Adult Care Providers Association
    Foster care referral service for private individuals in the community. Assists in looking for homes for elderly and alternatives to a nursing home. New listings monthly from a pool of 35 foster homes.

8. Adult Children of Alcoholics
    12-step support groups for adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families. Meetings are held in various locations in Eugene and Springfield. Printed schedules are available at White Bird, 341 E 12th or call 461-1179 for more information.

9. Adult High School Completion Program
    An adult high school program that issues an adult high school diploma to graduates who have met state and AHS requirements. Required and elective classes are offered each session. Students 16 & 17 years of age mustobtain a release/referral form from their local high school to enter. Adults 18 and older are admitted automatically. All students should provide transcripts of previously completed work.

10. Aerie Academy and Consulting
    Assists all students to move rapidly ahead academically, intellectually and creatively, in a manner consistent with their potential.

11. Al-Anon Family Groups/Alateen
    A 12-step program which provides support and encouragement to families and friends of alcoholics. Some groups are for teens and preteens; some have child care available. Meetings 7 days a week - call for information.

12. Alcoholics Anonymous (Emerald Valley Intergroup)
    A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other in order to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety. Provides information on all AA groups in Central and Eastern Lane County. Meeting directory of days, times and places available. Some meetings open only to alcoholics, some are open to all.

13. All Women's Health Services
    Free pregnancy test. Options counseling. Birth control including cervical cap and IUD. Well woman care. Abortions and donor insemination. Mid-life services.

14. Alpine Counseling Center
    Services include outpatient counseling, assessment for individuals, couples, and families, and treatment for attention deficit disorder.

15. Alvadore Community Library
    Provides a large print collection, adult low reading materials, and a children's story reading hour.

16. Alvord-Taylor, Inc.
    Independent Living Program: assists adults with developmental disabilities who do not require 24-hour supervision to live independently in the community. Supported Living Program: provides training and support to adults with developmental disabilities who require 24-hour supervision. Clients are assisted to live in small, normal living settings with emphasis on community integration and quality of life.

17. Alzheimer's Association - Cascade/Coast Chapter
    An information and referral group offering educational and support meetings, quarterly newsletters, speakers, a lending library and a 24-hour helpline. Provides information, assistance and support to anyone who works with or lives with a person who has Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder. Alzheimer's Family support groups in Lane, Coos, Curry and Douglas counties.

    Provides information, assistance and support to anyone who works with or lives with a person who has Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder.

19. American Association of Retired Persons - Eugene
    A service and social organization for people over 50 years of age. Meets at Campbell Senior Center, 155 High Street for a sack lunch every 3rd Monday at noon.

20. American Cancer Society - Eugene
    Provides transportaion for ambulatory cancer patients to and from chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Provides various support programs to cancer patients. Hospital equipment (beds, wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, etc.) loaned to cancer patients. Wigs and prostheses available on a limited basis. Current cancer prevention, detection, and disease-related information is available at the John Warren Cancer Information Room. Education programs are provided for schools, businesses, and community organizations. Provides free or low cost mamograms for Lane County residents.

21. American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon
    May provide legal assistance in a relatively small number of cases involving individuals' infringement of civil rights by a government entity. Legal resources are donated by attorneys who are ACLU members. The ACLU also lobbies local and state legislature and congress on behalf of constitutional rights and other civil liberties. Please call for services.

22. American Diabetes Association, Oregon Affiliate Inc.
    A non-profit volunteer health organization for people with diabetes, their families, physicians and other health care professionals. It promotes the search for prevention and cure of diabetes, and works to improve the well-being of all people with diabetes. Provides: fund-raising for research, diabetes education scholarships, camp scholarships, day camp for children with diabetes and their siblings, support groups, educational materials and publishes quarterly newsletter.

23. American Heart Association
    AHA provides community services, health faires, educational materials and worksite programs on the benefits of eating the right foods, exercise and avoiding tobacco.

24. American Lung Association of Oregon
    Provides information on asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), respiratory diseases, cigarette smoking, secondhand smoke, air pollution, and workplace smoking policies. Sponsors summer camp for children with asthma and offers self-help smoking cessation materials for individuals and workplaces. Self-help manuals for sale include 'Freedom From Smoking', 'Freedom From Smoking for You and Your Baby' (for pregnant smokers), 'Lifetime of Freedom from Smoking' (cessastion maintenance), and 'In Control' video cessation program. Supports and cosponsors support groups for patients with chronic breathing problems.

25. American Lung Association of Oregon - Camp Christmas Seal
    Summer camp for children ages 8-14 years with asthma or respiratory allergies. One week camp for ages 11-14 and another week camp for ages 8-12. Twenty-four hour medical supervision is provided and special diets can be accommodated. Children must be under physician's care. 'Camperships' available for reduced fee.

26. American Lung Association of Oregon - Occupational Health Library
    Provides information, referrals and materials for occupational lung diseases. Topics include dangers of working with asbestos, welding products, chemicals and other materials.

27. American Red Cross - Armed Forces Emergency Family Services
    Provides worldwide emergency communications for military duty personnel and their families, counseling, limited financial assistance, and information and referral for military personnel.

28. American Red Cross - Disaster Services
    Disaster relief for victims of fires and natural disasters. The 24-hour emergency service provides for basic immediate needs such as food, shelter and clothing. Provides services in all of Lane County.

29. American Red Cross - First Aid Service Team (FAST)
    Provides temporary first aid at community events, festivals, charitable benefits and sports events (i.e. run-a-thons, walk-a-thons, etc.) in Lane County. First Aid trained Youth Volunteers with adult supervisor cover pre-scheduled functions with temporary first aid.

30. American Red Cross - Health and Safety Services
    Provides education and certification in first aid and CPR. Provides health education in baby-sitting, youth first aid and HIV/AIDS education. Workplace safety programs. Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor, Preventing Disease Transmission and Sport Safety trainings are available.

31. American Red Cross - International Social Services
    We provide assistance with: requests for reunion of families divided by war or catastrophe; foreign location inquiry service; international disaster inquiry.

32. American Red Cross - Meals on Wheels
    Provides hot, nutritious meals to the elderly, home-bound residents of Eugene/Springfield and parts of the Danebo/Santa Clara area. A large noon meal is provided Monday through Friday as well as monitoring of the elderly home-bound who are unable to prepare their own meals.

33. American Red Cross - USDA Childcare Food Program
    Provides training and information on nutrition, menu planning, feeding of children and infants, food satey and sanitation, and the child care food program requirements. Education is provided in the form of newsletters, in-home training for children, and on-site technical visits. Reimbursement is provided to child care providers if they serve nutritious meals and snacks to children in care. Child care providers must be registered with the State of Oregon. Referrals are provided for parents seeking child care.

34. Amigos de los Sobrevivientes, Inc.
    Amigos de los Sobrevivientes works to restore survivors of political torture to mental and physical health by providing dental, medical, psychological, educational, vocational, and social service assistance. A staffed residence is available to selected survivors. Provide legal services to obtain political asylum for participating survivors.

35. Anorexia Nervosa and Related Eating Disorders, Inc. (ANRED)
    ANRED provides comprhensive information about anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and other less well-known eating disorders. All information is free and available on the internet. Point your Web browser to http://www.anred.com. The site is revised and updated monthly.

36. Arc of Lane County (The) - General Advocacy
    A group of parents, professionals and interested persons concerned with the quality of life for individuals who are developmentally disabled. Dedicated to the concept of community-based care and training with the premise that people with developmental disabilities must be provided the opportunity to realize their potential as participating members of the community and that they be provided with full and equal protection of the law.

37. Arc of Lane County (The) - Parent Class
    Provides support and educational information about parenting children 0-3 years of age for parents who have a cognitive limitation.

38. Arc of Lane County (The) - Parent Network
    Enables parents of children with developmental disabilities to be linked to other parents of children with similar conditions or disabilities. Provides mutual support and opportunity to share information and experiences, creating comfort and knowing one is not alone. Helpful in many areas throughout the years.

39. Arc of Lane County (The) - Respite Care Program
    Regular Respite Care: Coordinates families in need of a care provider with contacts to providers that are specially trained or skilled with children and adults with disabilities. Saturday Respite: A program for children with developmental disabilities 21 years and under. Available 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10a to 4p. Summer Respite: A 6-week program that runs 11:45-4:30 to provide community leisure activities including swimming, bowling, hiking, skating, etc. for children with developmental disabilities. After School Program: After school program providing recreational activities for adolescents with developmental disabilities.

40. Arc of Lane County (The) - Speaker's Bureau
    Addresses a wide range of topics about developmental disabilities. Volunteer speakers include parents of individuals with disabilities, professionals in the field, and concerned citizens. They are available to any group or organization interested in learning more about issues relating to people with developmental disabilities.

41. Associates in Vision Care
    Provides comprehensive visual analysis in or der to rule out ocular disease or any functional vision problem (such as difficulty with focusing, poor two-eye coordination and eye movement skills) which may interfere with reading ability.

42. Audiology Department
    Provides hearing evaluation, central auditory processing evaluation, neurodiagnostic testing, hearing aids and assistive listening devices.

43. Azalea Natural Vision
    Vision Improvement uses Bates principles, Reichian energy clearing, applied kinesiology integration techniques and visualizing to strengthen the interpretive faculties. Treatment incorporates recent findings in brain research, nutrition, light and other body-mind connections.
