Provides current information and education on AIDS and HIV infection. Provides AIDS-related counseling, health care and support services. Certified AIDS educators available for public speaking and safe sex workshops. Circulating videos, articles and brochures available. Prevention programs address youth, bisexual/gay men, women and children. Support services for those with HIV and for family, friends and loved ones, individual volunteer and client support groups. Social/recreational program, respite care and meals for HIV community. See client services.

2. HIV Alliance, Inc. - Acorn Center

Drop-in and repite center for persons with HIV disease. Provides recreational and social outlet. Services include intake, food, massage, service referral, conversation and informational lectures.

3. HIV Alliance, Inc. - Case Management
|
Case managers work with client to develop care plans that support client's ability to sustain self-care. Available services and programs inlcude: emergency funds, professional referrals, coordination of in-home support services, support groups for HIV-positive clients and others impacted by HIV disease, and practical support volunteers to assist with daily acivity needs.

4. HIV Alliance, Inc. - HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention

Assist businesses, schools and organizations in developing policy for HIV in the workplace or school. Health educators are available for presentations. HIV-positive Speakers Bureau provides factual, non-judgemental and personal information specifically related to HIV/AIDS and reducing the risk of HIV transmission. Outreach program strives to educate high risk groups in a variety of venues. Resource library offers a broad range of videos and books on HIV/AIDS. Serves all of Lane County.

Springfield/Eugene Habitat for Humanity is a Christian-based ecumenical ministry building simple decent homes in partnership with people in need of housing.

7. Halfway House Services, Inc. - Alder Street Residence
|
Residential facility providing treatment and training for eigth adults with chronic mental illness. Staff is on-site 24 hours a day, providing a consistent, safe, and supportive home environment which encourages individuals working at their own pace to attain their highest potential. We offer help in medication management, socialization, personal grooming, basic living skills, advocacy, mobility/transportation, nutrition, recreation, and money management. We work with individuals for six months to three years to help them obtain greater independence in their lives. All admissions coordinated through Lane County Mental Health.

8. Halfway House Services, Inc. - William Ware Residence

Provides residential treatment and training on a short term basis (6 months to 3 years) for chronically mentally ill adults. All referrals are coordinated and screened by the Lane County Mental Health Services program.

9. Handi-Cabs Medical Transfer Service
|
A medical transportation service providing varied levels of service from ambulatory to stretcher. Trained drivers are available specializing in medical appointments, hospital admissions and discharges. Serves Pacific Northwest area.

10. Head Start of Lane County
|
Provides comprehensive developmental services for low-income, pre-school children and social services for their families. Parents of enrolled children are eligible for literacy funds to support basic skilldevelopment, English as a Second Language classes, GED preparation, parenting education, and other training that prepares parents for employment and self-sufficiency. Eligible expenses include tuition, lab fees, books, childcare, and transportation.

11. Head Start of Lane County - Center Based and Home Based Model
|
Head Start works in partnership with families to provide a quality pre-school experience for children ages 3-5. The Center Based model primarily for 4 year olds provides a classroom experience for 17-20 children Tuesday through Friday for 3 1/2 hours each day. A nutritious morning snack and hot lunch are served daily. The Home Base program primarily for 3 year olds provides a weekly home visit with the parent and preschooler. A weekly classroom experience provides socialization. Social services, mental health and speech services are provided.

12. Healing Heart and Mind Counseling

Offers low-cost counseling to residents of Cottage Grove and Creswell on a sliding scale basis. Family counseling, incest and sexual abuse counseling, anger, self esteem, marriage counseling, disassociative disorders, adjustment disorderschronic pain, women's issues, mood disorders and anxiety. Eugene office located at 1860 Willamette.

13. Health Information Center
|
Offers a variety of health resources, including the Early Childhood CARES (EC CARES) collection. Resources are available on learning disabilities; speech, hearing, and language development; ADD and ADHD; developmental disorders;autism; behavioral health and therapy; and parenting. The Health Information Center is moving to a new location in May 1999 and will offer extended hours.

14. Healthy Tomorrows Well Child Program

Services available are: immunizations, well and sick child care, vision and hearing screenings, developmental screenings and dental referrals.

|
Free referral service for people 50 and older who are interested in full-time, part-time or temporary employment.

16. Hemlock Society U.S.A
|
Provides printed information on the methods, ethics and legalities of assistance in dying for a terminally ill mature adult. The long-term goal is for law reform to permit physician aid-in-dying for the mentally competent terminally ill. No office visits available. 90 local chapters nationwide - call or write with inquiries. Fees are: $15-40 new members, $250 lifetime membership. 17. High School Equivalency Program
|
Federally - funded GED program for migrant and seasonally employed or supported high school dropouts. Instructors and curriculum are bilingual and bicultural. The program lasts 8 weeks and is designed as a transition to work or college. Free housing in dormitories, a $15/week stipend, and U of O facilities are available to participants. Provides career counseling and placement, GED testing, and computer classes. Applications are taken any time.

18. High School Equivalency Program
|
Provides basic academic instruction in 5 areas in preparation for taking the GED exams in English and Spanish. Three 10-week sessions are offered: fall, winter and spring terms at the University of Oregon. Services provided include: personal and career counseling, life-skills instruction, preparation for college, financial aid application assistance and course work identification. Based on students' occupational choices, they also are assisted with placement services, job training and referral to appropriate employers or agencies.

19. Holt International Children's Services
|
Offers adoption of international and domestic-born children to qualified adoptive parents. Offers confidential pregnancy counseling to birth parents who are confronted with an unplanned pregnancy. Childlife pregnancy counseling program is designed to inform and educate birth parents regarding their pregnancy options, provide supportive counseling during their pregnancy, and assist them in making a future plan for the child. Free pregnancy tests.

20. Homeless Veterans Drop In Center

The Drop In Center is a component of the Homeless Chronically Mentally Ill (HCMI) program. The Drop In Center provides a supportive environment where veterans can develop and work on job search and social skills. A telephone and local daily newspaper will be available.

21. Hummingbird Hostel (The)
|
Service organization provides travelers of all ages a bed for a good night's sleep, a hot shower, a place to prepare a meal and a friendly atmosphere for meeting other hostelers from around the nation and around the world. Membership available. No alcohol or smoking. Quiet hours. Fees: members $13, non-members $16, private room $34, 2 person $37.
