1. March of Dimes - Campaign for Healthier Babies

Prenatal health education regarding healthy babies, preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Provides grants, information and teaching tools to organizations, and raises funds.

McKenzie Personnel is a private non-profit organization that provides individual job placement, training and support for developmentally disabled adults in Lane County.

3. McKenzie River Clinic

A health clinic offering family medical services, such as routine physical exams, treatment for emergencies, and assessment and treatment of acute and chronic medical problems. Also has laboratory services, X-ray, and EKG. Nurse practitioners are available Monday-Friday.

A fund-raising foundation that makes grants available to Oregon-based organizations which address the issues of peace and international solidarity, human rights, economic justice, and environmental protection.

We offer optometric vision care with a behavioral and developmental approach. Provides comprehensive binocular vision evaluation, testing for learning-related vision problems, testing and remediation of perceptual visual processing skills andintegration of sensory systems.

7. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Adult Day Health Care Center

The McKenzie-Willamette Adult Day Health Care Center is a community service offering group care during the day in a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment. Services include health screenings, hot lunch and snacks, individualized and group activities, personal care, caregivers' support group, foot care, medication administration and monitoring.

8. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Bereavement Support Group
|
This free, on-going support group is for people who are facing grief after the death of someone they care about. It is a place to be with people who know what it is like to grieve. You can talk a little, a lot, or not at all.

Provides a place where caregivers of adults can get information and share their experiences. Free care from 1-3 for disabled adult while caregiver attends support group.

Outpatient programs and classes focusing on weight management, diabetes management and medical nutrition therapy.

Comprehensive classes offered on childbirth preparation. Additional classes for sibling preparation, breastfeeding, new baby care and childbirth refresher. Monthly tours of the birth center. Individual tours by arrangement.

Full service community health/medical library. Materials available: books, journals, newsletters, clipping file, audio/video tapes and computerized information. Staffed by health librarian and volunteers.

13. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Emergency Services

Our state-of-the art Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day and is staffed by physicians board certified in emergency and occupational medicine. We provide services for minor injuries or major trauma, worker's compensation treatment and evaluation, pre-employment physical, drug screening, routine outpatient evaluation and treatment, and referrals. Department of Transportation physicals are available 24 hours a day. Blood pressure checks available 24 hours at no charge.

14. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Grief Support Group
|
This free support group is open to any family member or close friend of someone who has died recently. We work together to come to some resolution of what this person meant to you and search for ways to continue living with renewed hope and energy.

15. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Home Care Services/Hospice Services
|
Provides skilled care to persons in their place of residence. Services include: registered nurses, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social services, bereavement support groups and home health aides. Specialized hospice services with volunteers available. Eligibility determined by physician orders and patient needs.

16. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Lactation Consultation Services

A certified lactation consultant provides breast-feeding education support. Phone or personal consultation available. Intensive support for babies having medical problems due to breast-feeding difficulties. Breast-feeding classes offered monthly.

17. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Lifeline
|
Lifeline is a personal emergency response system. The system places electronic equipment in the subscriber's home which connects their telephone to a 24-hour response system at the hospital and ensures immediate assistance. The program benefits persons living at home alone or needing the security of such a program.

18. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Maternity Care Coordinators
|
Provides support, education and referral information to pregnant women. Assists families in exploring various birth options to provide the best possible maternity experience. Service is available to all women delivering at McKenzie-Willamette Hospital.

19. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Physician Referral Service
|
Provides people with access to over 130 physicians in 24 specialties including family practice. These physicians are all on the medical staff at the hospital. Payment arrangements are made through the physicians' offices.

Health promotion seminars, workshops and classes. Information and referral for seniors, discounts with some businesses and assistance with Medicare claims. Scheduled health screenings.

21. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Tele-Friend

For people living alone and who are also housebound and in need of medical attention, Tele-Friend offers the comfort of a daily phone call. Calls are made by volunteers. To apply, call the Volunteer Services Department at McKenzie-Willamette Hospital. Volunteers are welcome.

22. McKenzie-Willamette Hospital - Women's Health and Birth Center
|
Attentive care and support of women before, during and immediatly after childbirth or gynecological surgery. "Family Centered Maternity Care" of the newborn in mom's private room to enhance family involvement and education. The updated Women's Health and Birth Center opened in March 1997 complete with a jacuzzi for mom and accomodations for her support person. Lactation consultants to support a successful breastfeeding experience. Specialized level II care of infants requiring intensive monitoring and support.

23. Medicare Hotline
|
Trained operators are available to answer any questions a patient may have regarding Medicare health insurance claims. Blue Cross of Oregon handles all hospital bills for Medicare. They can be reached at: PO Box 8110, Portland, OR 97207-8110, or 503-721-7000 for billing information only. Hotline does not have patient records. 800-444-4606 is Blue Cross/Blue Sheild and they have information about beneficiaries' claims.

24. Medishare
|
Medishare is a program which has been designed to improve access to medical care for Medicare eligible people. Physicians participating in the Medishare program will accept Medicare assignment for people with Medishare card. Apply at any of the following centers: Eugene: Campbell Senior Center, Sacred Heart Hospital and PeaceHealth Elder Health Services; Springfield: Willamalane Senior Center and McKenzie Willamette Hospital; Veneta: Tony Garcia Senior Center; Junction City: Viking Sal Senior Center); Oakridge: Willamette Activity Center; Cottage Grove: Community Health; and Florence: County Annex. For homebound outreach call 682-4038, Florence 997-8412/997-8217, Oakridge 782-4726.

25. Mental Health Services - Employee Assistance Program
|
Individual, couple, family, and substance abuse counseling. Also HIV counseling for families and individuals.

26. Mid-Lane Community Chest
|
Emergency assistance with utility bills, prescriptions, etc. for the people of the Fern Ridge, Crow-Applegate and Lorane School districts. Aid is limited to $100 per family per year. Services provided by phone. No rental assistance is available through this program. Scholarships for youth activities (territorial sports program, school sports, etc.) are available, as well as swim scholarships through the City of Veneta.

27. Midcoast Enterprises
|
Provides a sheltered workshop for mentally and physically disabled adults. Training is accomplished by the performance of various jobs. These jobs include janitorial, manufacture of yellow-jacket bee traps, recycling, collating and firewood vending. Also provides residential training in three locations.

28. Mobility International USA
|
MIUSA is a non-profit, membership-supported program which is dedicated to increasing opportunities for people with disabilities to be involved in international exchanges, leadership development, disability rights training, volunteering abroad, study abroad, work abroad and projects relating to women with disabilities. Offers international exchanges in Eugene/Springfield area and in other countries. Also provides exchange referral service for individuals with disabilities interested in international exchange. Membership fee includes Over the Rainbow newsletter plus discounts on publicatios.

29. Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Lane County Chapter
|
Provides speakers, victim assistance, and information and referral. Primary reason for existence is to eliminate drunk driving.

30. Mothers From Hell
|
Mothers From Hell is a collection of numerous women dedicated to bringing appropriate services and programs within reach of their own children with disabilities, as well as other children in the local school systems. They meet at potlucks. Call for time and place. A newsletter is also published. Cost is $10/year.

31. Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)
|
A program coordinated by mothers for mothers and their preschool-age children. MOPS strives to answer need for friendship and encouragement. Teaching, small group discussions, crafts and demonstrations. Nursery, play and programs for children through kindergarten-age. 1500 chapters worldwide, three in Eugene.

32. Mt. Hood Vision Center

Offers full service evaluation of vision problems that may interfere with the ease, comfort or comprehension of reading and learning. A visual problem often causes or contributes to learning problems that lead to adult illiteracy.Vision evaluations assess conditions that include two-eyed coordination, tracking, focusing, double vision, blur, headaches, drowsiness with reading and poor visual attention, visual perception, visual memory, and motion sensitivity.

33. Muscular Dystrophy Association
|
MDA works to combat neuromuscular disease through basic and applied scientific investigation, patient services and clinical care, and professional and public education. Through many fundraising projects, MDA has been able to organize and maintain a worldwide research program, a program of patient and community services, a network of clinics (in Eugene and Medford), a summer camp program, and various educational programs. Services are free to the patients.
