1. Nar-Anon
|
Provides support for friends and families of substance abusers. Individual and group communication is encouraged through meetings and telephone contact. Prearrangement is not required to attend meetings. Call for dates and locations of meetings.

2. Narcotics Anonymous
|
A 12-step support group for people for whom drugs have been a major problem. Helpline has information on meeting days, times and places throughout Lane County.

3. National Abortion Federation Hotline
|
Primary source for women who seek abortion services or information pertaining to safe abortion. The hotline provides referrals and guidelines. NAF is a national, non-profit professional membership organization made up of more than 300 abortion service providers. NAF sets standards for quality care and assists providers in upgrading their services. Also provides publications and consumer information on all aspects of abortion care.

4. National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Lane County
|
This non-profit corporation provides mutual support, education, and information for families and friends of chronically or severely mentally ill persons; advocates for the elimination of mental illness through research and treatment; and provides education and information to the community, local agencies and support systems. A 12-week Family-to-Family education program is conducted twice yearly.

5. National Center for Missing Youth - Operation Lookout
|
Operation Lookout provides no-charge crisis intervention for legal parents or custodians of runaways and victims of stranger abductions, non-custodial parent kidnapping, and unexplained disappearances. Services include search assistance, legal and community service referrals, national and international communication networks, systems walk-through, picture distribution, poster production, and emotional support.

6. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
|
Provides assistance to parents and law enforcement agencies in locating missing children and preventing child exploitation. Hotline 24 hr/7 days. Business office M-F 9 - 5:30 Eastern Time.

7. National Eye Care Project
|
Provides referrals for US citizens or legal residents, age 65 or older, who do not have access to an ophthalmologist they have seen in the past. Callers who meet the eligibility requirements are mailed the name of an ophthalmologist participating near their home. Participating doctors provide medical eye exams and treatment for conditions or diseases, if necessary. Qualified callers will receive treatment at no expense for the doctor's services. Eyeglasses, prescriptions, hospital services and other medical services are not covered under the program. Doctors accept insurance reimbursement as payment in full. Insurance is not necessary. No one is turned away for lack of insurance.

8. National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Oregon Chapter-Southwest Oregon Branch
|
Provides self-help groups, information and referral helpline, literature, lending library, newsletter, educational programs, medical equipment loan program and respite care program.

9. National Response Center Hotline
|
The NRC receives telephonic reports of oil spills and hazardous chemical material releases, and passes the information to the predesignated Federal On-Scene Coordinator.

10. National Runaways Switchboard
|
National directory for runaway shelters and other places that help runaways. Crisis intervention and limited problem solving by phone referrals to community-based service providers. Will give messages to parents. Also, will take a conference call to parent and/or appropriate social service agency.

11. Nearby Nature Center
|
Provides an opportunity for exploration of nature. Activities include: free family nature walks, school presentations, summer day-camps (three hours per day held outdoors at local parks), no-school-day classes, school field trips, naturescaping and opportunities for volunteers (14 and up).

12. Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation

We are a nonprofit community development corporation dedicated to improving the economic stability and well-being of low-income people and lower-income neighborhoods in the Eugene/Springfield area. To accomplish this purpose, NEDCO develops affordable housing for households who cannot compete for market rate shelter; establishes and maintains commercial properties; and promotes small businesses. In its development activities, the organization fosters public and private sector partnerships, working to enhance the social and economic stability of the wider community. The housing is focused on affordable ownership, not rentals.

17. Northwest Neurodevelopmental Training

Treatment program for adults and children based on normal neurological development. Provides treatment for neurologically-based learning disabilities and bibliographic information dealing with various aspects of neurological development.Program participants receive a functional neurological exam to determine what dysfunctions exist and are then given a program of daily activities to address these dysfunctions.

18. Northwest Youth Corps
|
Northwest Youth Corps offers residential job training, employment and recreation programs for teens. The NYC programs integrate education and hard work into a curriculum that stresses teamwork, responsibility and the development of basic job skills while fostering the growth of confidence and self-esteem. Teens earn between $6.00-6.50 per hour while working on various reforestation and recreation projects throughout the Northwest. Crews travel extensively, camp in tents, cook their meals on propane stoves, and engage in recreational and educational programs. NYC offers 6 different programs averaging 5 weeks in length. Summer programs allow youth to earn a stipend of $6 per hour.

19. Northwest Youth Corps - YouthBuild Lane County
|
YouthBuild Lane County offers youth, ages 16-24, a 12-month program that inlcudes education, on-site construction training, leadership development, support services, job placement and follow-up services. Participants alternate one week of on-site vocational education and contruction experience building homes for low-income and homeless families with one week of academic education and counseling. Participants receive stipends of $22/day while enrolled in the program. Raises and bonuses are given throughout the year for good performance.
