1. YMCA - Big Brothers /Big Sisters
|
Places good role-model adults with children, aged 5-14, who are having problems and are referred by local therapist, school counselor, and SCF. These children come primarily from low-income, single-parent families. Agency provides training, support and guidance to volunteers. Volunteers are asked to give 2-5 hours per week. A professional case worker assists the Big Brother-Big Sister by providing support, guidance and suggestions for the child's development. Agency provides regular activities for matched and waiting children.

2. YMCA - U-Can-Swim
|
A year-round learn-to-swim and water recreation program for youth and adults with kinesthetic or neurological challenges. Classes are held in our warm-water instructional pool for beginning or experienced swimmers. A one-on-one volunteer aide is provided when available.

3. YMCA - Water Exercise Class for People with Arthritis (Keep Moving)
|
A national YMCA/Arthritis Foundation program of water exercises for flexibility, range of motion, and strength.

4. YMCA - You Can Gym
|
A community service provided and staffed by the YMCA. We operate on referrals by physicians for an individual to strengthen or condition him/herself in a gym. They can bring their personal attendants if necessary; some staff is available. A special weight room with equipment designed for wheelchairs. Sessions are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1- 4 p at the YMCA.
